Your Wealth: Is It Green For Go In Europe?; MONEY ZONE

Sunday Mirror, Feb 20, 2000

I WILL BE driving to France with my family and want to make sure I have the right insurance for travelling in Europe. Do I still need a Green Card on top of my normal insurance? If so, how much extra will it cost me? - Mr P Mitchell, Oxford.

NOW we are part of the EU, you no longer require a Green Card and do not have to pay any extra on your premium. It is however, a good idea to check with your insurer as some comprehensive policies revert to being only third party abroad.

I RECENTLY applied for a new credit card. As I normally pay my other credit card on time, have a relatively good salary and a mortgage, I was shocked to be turned down. I am worried that this will affect applications I make to other credit card companies. - Miss V Simmonds, Crewe, Cheshire.

TO get a copy of your credit information file contact Experian Ltd, Consumer Help Service, PO Box 8000, Nottingham, NG1 5GX, detailing where you have lived for the past six years. There is a pounds 2 charge for this service.

I WAS sold a bad pension a few years ago. I've been told I may be owed compensation, but I'm a long way off retirement, so do I need to bother with this now? - Sandy Ward, Peterborough, Lincs.

YOU have until March 31 to return a form to your pension company to check whether compensation is owed. If you need help, call the Financial Services Authority on 0800 003 007.
