THE QUEEN OF SPIN : Alasdair Morrison

NEWS reaches me of a family at war at the Parliament. It appears that Highlands and Islands Minister Alasdair Morrison has been undermining the authority of his brother John, a highly-respected BBC political correspondent.

The feud began last week when John suggested that the weaver who made his brother's orange tweed jacket was suffering from colour blindness. Now Alasdair has retaliated with a less-than-charitable remark about his brother's professional status.

While key debates were taking place in Edinburgh this week, the BBC man was covering a shellfish conference in Brussels.

Alasdair was overheard dismissing John as "nothing more than a crustacean correspondent".
