Football: pounds 100,000 FINE FOR BELLAMY

NEWCASTLE United bad boy Craig Bellamy is facing a record- breaking club fine of pounds 100,000 for his assault on a young girl student.
United will hit troubled Bellamy with a massive fine that is the equivalent of FIVE WEEKS' WAGES, but suggestions that Bellamy will be kicked out of Newcastle are wide of the mark.
He will be given a final warning about his behaviour after getting into trouble again just three months after being sent home from a club trip to southern Spain.
The entire Newcastle United first-team squad will
be hauled before chairman Freddy Shepherd and manager Bobby Robson this week and warned that the famous Bigg Market and Quayside areas are out of bounds.

Normally players can only be fined two weeks' wages but Shepherd is to hold talks with the PFA to inflict a punishment that matches the seriousness of his offence.
Bellamy was given a police caution on Thursday after assaulting 21- year-old Newcastle University student Charlotte Smith early hours on Tuesday morning.
A St James' Park insider suggested Bellamy, who is married with a young family, will accept whatever punishment Newcastle dish out.
"Newcastle are determined to make an example of Bellamy," said a senior club source.
