DO accessorise.

A little black dress is all well and good, but if you want to really knock 'em dead, go for a sophisticated shoe (Cam's even got snazzy butterfly bows on hers) a saucy neck tie and a classy silver bracelet.

DON'T think you can do Eighties Madonna (it wasn't that good the first time round). Ms Diaz may be able to carry off the flat cap, but the rest of this ensemble? Glittery bag, half a shirt, a glimpse of red bra? Eclectic it ain't. A mess it is.

DO glam up. Cameron's Oscar dress is a winner. The gorgeous floaty flowery creation combines old-school glamour with up-to-the-minute boho chic. Our only problem is with the ugly blue placcy bangle...

DO go smart-casual. You might think this look is just sticking on an old pair of jeans, but with those sexy peep-toe sandals, beautifully- tailored top, hoop earrings and oh-so-cool shades, there's a lot of thought behind it.

DON'T wear granny's cast-offs. For a start, salmon pink should be given a wide berth (a truth universally acknowledged by bridesmaids ). And if her gran ran out of knitting wool halfway through, chopping up another top certainly wasn't the answer.

DO go for big and bold. Cam teams this gorge sleeveless dress plus trendy stripes and jagged hemline with some killer triangle-toed heels. Not quite so sure about the 80s-style jacket, but as it's probably not staying on all night, we're prepared to overlook it, just this once.

DON'T forget your bra. This off-the-shoulder cardie makes even Cameron's baps look a bit low-slung.

Still, it's not quite a Gwyneth Paltrow (remember that Oscars disaster?). But as for the trailer trash necklace - Cameron, sometimes you can just throw too much together, you know.

DO show off your assets.

The bandeau top draws all eyes to Cam's taut tum and perfectly complements the flared skirt. Approach this outfit with caution though if you've been at the pies. And what's this - another ugly bangle? Put them away, woman!
