TV CHIEFS will rake in around pounds 12million in nine weeks from Big Brother.

Soaring ratings have pushed up the cost of advertising from pounds 30,000 to pounds 100,000 for a 30-second slot on Friday nights. And around 14 million votes have been cast so far this series - with half the price of each 25p vote going to Channel 4 and BB producers Endemol.

Up to 25,000 fans have paid pounds 9.95 to watch live footage of Big Brother on the internet, while BB sponsor O2 has handled 6.6 million premium text messages.
