Football: BORO CHASE SENEGAL STAR

Sunday Mirror,  Nov 10, 2002

SENEGALESE World Cup defender Ferdinand Coly will spark a massive New Year transfer scramble from no fewer than six Premiership clubs.

Coly, 28, who has been frozen out at French club Lens after refusing to sign a new three-year contract, has just seven months left on his current deal.

Middlesbrough last week became the latest English club to stake a claim for the pounds 3m-rated right-back, who is likely to be available for a cut-price pounds 400,000.

Birmingham are continuing to monitor events, along with Leeds, Manchester City, Spurs and West Ham.
