Football: BARK STILL FULL OF BITE
Sunday Mirror, Nov 10, 2002 by LES WARD
ON-FORM striker Richie Barker continued his amazing scoring streak when he made it eight goals from nine starts and got Rotherham's season back on track.
The striker has had to wait patiently for his chance with boss Ronnie Moore keeping him on the bench despite his amazing scoring record. After a double strike against Stoke two weeks ago Moore kept faith with Barker who repaid him with the 67th-minute winner.
Chances were always going to be at premium. But Rotherham got their noses in front four minutes before the break when Martin McIntosh rose to head home Darren Garner's corner.
United should have doubled their lead after the break when Alan Lee headed Garner's cross wide. And the miss looked costly after Dominic Foley levelled on the hour when he sent a superb flicked header inside the far post from Neil Ardley's cross.
But Rotherham restored their advantage seven minutes later when Lee worked his way to the by-line before squaring for Barker to turn home from six yards.
