24/7: He can't wait for Gray day
Sunday Mirror, Nov 10, 2002 by Polly Graham
DAVID Gray is determined to let his hair down at his five sell- out Irish shows this week.
The singer first shot to fame in Ireland before the rest of the world caught on, and was a regular visitor to all arts and parts of the country.
An insider said yesterday: "It's David's first trip to back to Ireland for a long time and he's really looking forward to spending a full week in the country.
"Because of the success of White Ladder, David hasn't been able to spend as much time as he would have liked here over the past couple of years.
"So spending six days over here is a real treat for him - he's determined to have a few pints of Guinness and catch up with his old pals."
But ever the professional, David says he won't be partying too hard - at least until he plays the final note of his last gig in the Point on Saturday night.
His new album, A New Day At Midnight, shot to the top of the charts last week and has already hit platinum status in Ireland.
