STAR STYLE: Celebrity designers dress Jen

Sunday Mirror, Mar 2, 2003 by Words: Kim Carillo

Elizabeth Emanuel

famously designed Princess Diana's wedding dress

'She's going to want to take Ben's breath away when he sees her for the first time in her wedding gown,' says Elizabeth, who knows what it's like to create a bridal outfit for one of the most photographed women in the world. 'This is a romantic relationship and I think that will reflect in her choice of gown,' continues Elizabeth. 'Jennifer has an amazing body so she'd look great in something tight-fitting. She should go for glamour but in a sophisticated, couture way.' Elizabeth suggests a twist on tradition: 'Something pink to go with her pink diamond would be great and, with her skin colour, pale pink would look fabulous. Maybe something in lace, which is very now, with some sparkle and twinkles as well.'

Lynn Rosenzweig

and Ivana Ristic

designed a bridal gown for Halle Berry

'A celebrity wedding is like Oscar night times 10,' says Lynn who, with Ivana, runs Ristarose in San Francisco. 'I'd imagine Jennifer's been inundated with sketches from designers dying to dress her for her wedding. Ms Lopez is a fashion icon, which allows her the power to pick any designer she desires. But I think she'll want to walk down the aisle in something that brings out her feminine qualities. She'd be able to carry off many different looks - as she does in everyday life, but most importantly, the gown should be elegant to honour the occasion and something she can look back on with fond memories.' Lynn adds: 'But if she has a specific idea of what she wants, she should have a designer to interpret it. To create a couture gown you need to have a design eye to be able to pull something together that can endure the scrutiny of the entire world.'

Maria Yiannikaris

designed Kym Marsh's wedding dress

'It may be Jennifer's third marriage, but it's Ben's first, and I think that will be reason enough for her to go the full mile with her dress,' says the Mirror Mirror bridal designer, who, along with partner Jane Freshwater, created wedding gowns for Zoe Ball, Amanda Holden and Kym Marsh. 'She's one sexy lady, but I think she's a traditional girl at heart so we predict something soft and romantic. Her hair would look great smoothed back in a chignon with a huge rose pinned at the back. But whatever she chooses will be amazing.'
