A HIGH-RANKING al-Qaeda member was last night being interrogated by security services after being arrested in Pakistan.

Moroccan Abu Yasir al-Jaziri, a key figure in the terror group's business operations, was held in a raid on a house in the city of Lahore, said Pakistani Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.

Al-Jaziri was staying with a Pakistani family when he was arrested. The family was also being questioned, although it was understood they not under arrest. Al-Jaziri's terror connections were revealed in a recent court case when Pakistani authorities accused a doctor - who lived in the US from 1972 to 1983 before returning to Manawa, near Lahore - of having links to top-level al-Qaeda operatives.

The court heard how "al-Qaeda's most wanted terrorists were being harboured" at Dr Ahead Jaded Khawaja's home.

Al-Jaziri was said to be a "computer whiz" and two laptops in the house where he was seized were being examined last night.
