CHILD PORN PERV GIVEN COUNCIL PC

A CONVICTED paedophile has been jailed after using a council- owned computer to download child porn.

Benjamin Holt was loaned the computer by social services to help with his education and was given unlimited free access to the internet.

The 18-year-old was in foster care and under the supervision of social workers after being convicted and cautioned for indecently assaulting two boys aged seven and nine.

Holt used the PC to download 263 child porn images, including extreme movie clips, from Germany and the US, Exeter Crown Court was told.

Holt, from Sidmouth, Devon, admitted 11 specimen charges, five of possessing indecent pictures of children and six of making indecent images of children.

He was jailed for eight months, ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years and banned from accessing child internet sites.

Judge Jeremy Griggs told him: "The time has come for you to serve a prison sentence. Attempts to deal with these problems have so far been ineffective."

After the case a Devon County Council spokesman said: "We are determined all the lessons are learned and acted upon."
