Topic: RSS FeedMY PAP PICS: GAIL PORTER 'I'LL DEFINITELY NEVER HAVE ANOTHER BABY'
Sunday Mirror, Jun 6, 2004 by Julie Burniston
Aaah, it all makes sense to me now...
I haven't seen this picture before, but I do remember seeing a guy in a car watching me jogging and thinking, 'Oh no!' I'll often go jogging with Missy, my Sharpei, if I don't feel like going to the gym. She loves it. As soon as I put on my waterproof tracksuit I can see her thinking, 'Ah, Mummy's going out for a run!' and she gets all excited.
Showing off my sparkler
Dan and I had just got married and I was so chuffed I couldn't stop grinning. We'd just come out of the registrar's office and were in the silver Bentley we'd been given for the day. I was showing off my wedding ring. It was a surprise to get a ring, because Dan and I had agreed not to buy wedding bands. It wasn't until we were exchanging vows that he pulled out this lovely ring with 22 little diamonds. I was thrilled.
Celebrity mums
Oh, look at me! I'm hungover to hell and I look knackered. The night before was the first time I'd gone out since having my daughter Honey. Dan and I bumped into Nicole Appleton and Liam Gallagher in our local pub. I hadn't known Nicole that well before, but we got on brilliantly, and we all ended up going back to mine for drinks. The next morning Nicole turned up with her son Gene and we went for a walk. The paparazzi were out in droves and I was really paranoid. As you can see, I've got Honey all covered up. I was going through that new mum stage where I wanted to keep her under wraps - I'm much more relaxed these days.
Mystery beach babe
I have no idea where this picture was taken. It could have been Crete, where Dan and I went on honeymoon. The flight there involved one of the most embarrassing incidents of my life. We sneaked off for a romp in the toilet and when we came out, we practically got a round of applause. The stewardess was standing there with two bottles of Champagne saying, 'Was that your first time?' Talk about drawing attention to us. I was so embarrassed!
Romantic kiss goodnight
My husband Dan and I had gone to a dinner hosted by the Mauritius tourist board. We love Mauritius, it's one of our favourite places in the world. It was a great night, but by midnight it was game over for me. I can't last that late these days, what with being a mum and everything. I remember saying, 'Look Dan, I'm gonna have to go,' but he was having a ball so I told him to stay. He offered to escort me to a cab - which was just as well because my feet were killing me in my high heels! So this is Dan giving me a goodnight kiss before he went back in to party some more.
Looking red-faced
I remember this well. I had to present the Best-selling Single award at the 2001 Ivor Novello Awards. The problem was, I'd had a glass of wine just before I was due on stage and I'd had an allergic reaction to it. Some wines are too acidic for me and this was one of them. My face erupted in blotches and went bright red. I frantically tried to powder myself down, but nothing worked - I was mortified. I got so self-conscious that I did my speech in double-quick time. Afterwards, someone took this picture with Denise Van Outen. I remember thinking, 'She looks so pretty and I look like a Ribena Berry!'
Injury time
Ooh, look at me! I'm nursing a torn hamstring which I got while competing in C4's The Games. In hindsight, I think it was too soon after having Honey to try and compete in a mini Olympics. I was exhausted and my hips were slightly out of alignment since I'd given birth. The organisers were going to pull me out before the show went on air because I ripped a hamstring but the doctor said, 'Give it a try, see how you get on.' But within two days I felt this burning sensation up my leg. I'd ripped the muscle again, so that was that.
Me and my helpful hubby
I'm very pregnant here and poor Dan is trying to yank me off a park bench. I'm so heavy I can't even get myself up. I was so huge. I lived in that tracksuit. I remember this photo because I was in pain and Dan didn't know what to do. My daughter Honey is gorgeous, but I definitely won't have any more kids. It was dreadfully painful - my labour was over 19 hours. They say you forget the pain, but I certainly haven't.
Gail is appearing in Dead Famous, a six-part road trip across the US where she and psychic Chris Fleming try to track down the spirits of long-dead Hollywood icons. The first show is on Living TV at 9pm on 15 June and is repeated each Sunday
