Davies: I may sue Campbell

FORMER BBC chairman Gavyn Davies last night threatened to sue ex- No.10 spin doctor Alastair Campbell over the Dr David Kelly affair.

Mr Davies was forced to resign in the wake of the Hutton inquiry into the death of the Government weapons inspector.

Lord Hutton cleared No.10 of "sexing-up" intelligence on Iraq in its dossier on weapons of mass destruction.

Mr Campbell claimed the report showed Mr Davies and ex-BBC director general Greg Dyke had lied.

But Mr Davies has now insisted he is more convinced than ever that the BBC was right to report that the Government exaggerated the threat posed by Saddam Hussein.

And he revealed lawyers had advised him he could sue Tony Blair's former right-hand man for branding him a liar.

"I am still thinking about whether to go ahead," he said.
