MOTORING: SUBARU

SUBARU'S latest foray into the 4x4 market may be a mistake.

They may be anxious to shift the workmanlike Subaru brand into the premium segment, but their new B9 SUV is anything but pretty.

It has a rather unfortunate nose which seems to be a very dismal attempt to imitate the wide nostrils of the Porsche Cayenne.

Based on a stretched Legacy chassis, it's a seven-seater with a 250bhp 3.0-litre flat-six lump and permanent four-wheel drive.

And the plus side? The interior's quite posh, but that's about it. Good luck.
