REAL LIFE: SURPRISE GUEST 'Sandra Bullock came to our wedding'

Diane and Ed Grambo had spent six months planning their perfect wedding. After 10 years together, Ed had proposed and they'd decided to tie the knot at the glorious Venetian Hotel Resort on the famous Las Vegas Strip. The couple had invited 50 friends and family who were all flying in especially. However, what the lovebirds hadn't realised was Hollywood star Sandra Bullock and a huge film crew were going to be at the hotel shooting scenes for Miss Congeniality II.

'They were filming all around the chapel area, which was where we were getting married,' Diane explains. 'But I didn't find out until the day before my wedding. We'd just finished our rehearsal when our wedding co- ordinator at the hotel suddenly told us, "You might have to tell your guests to come early because there's a little security problem." I started to panic as my guests weren't all staying at the Venetian. They were at different hotels all over Vegas. I wouldn't have had time to track them down and tell them to arrive an hour before the ceremony.'

The last thing the couple needed was complications on their big day, and they certainly didn't want any guests to have trouble getting to the wedding.

However, any worries the bride and groom were having soon evaporated when the wedding co-ordinator presented them with an envelope. Diane opened it and inside was a personal, handwritten note which said 'Congratulations on your wedding' - it was signed 'Sandra Bullock'.

The next morning, all the guests arrived on time, and the bride and groom were to make their separate ways to the chapel so Ed wouldn't see Diane's wedding dress.

'I was escorted to the chapel by my wedding co-ordinator and my maid of honour,' explains Diane. 'Ed and my father - who was giving me away - were already waiting for me there.'

However, on the way to her wedding, Diane suddenly heard cheering. Turning round, she was stunned to see the beaming faces of Sandra Bullock and dozens of the film crew, all looking towards her. 'They were cheering and clapping for me,' Diane remembers. 'It was wonderful, and I felt like a princess.'

After the service, the newlyweds were walking to the reception in another part of the hotel, when they saw Sandra again. 'We were walking through the area where they were filming and she was standing there,' says Diane. 'Ed and I decided to go over to thank her for the note. She reached out and gave me a hug and a kiss, saying, "Congratulations, you look beautiful!" What floored me most about her was how nice and normal she was,' says Diane. 'She made us feel it was our big day and we were really special.'

Then Sandra gave Ed some advice. 'She told my new husband to buy me lots of jewellery and shoes,' Diane reveals. 'Ed laughed and said, "Too right!" Sandra gave him a hug and a kiss, and then off we went to our reception in a daze. They say your wedding day should be the best day of your life and, believe me, it was.'

The newlyweds had quite a tale to tell - and anyone who didn't believe them could watch it on film as Sandra was captured on the wedding video.

'It was everything I wanted and more,' says the new Mrs Grambo about her one-in-a-million wedding experience. The video immortalised their delightful surprise, but there's just one nagging doubt Diane can't helping wondering about... 'I was joking with my husband,' she laughs, 'that the only reason he'll want to look at our wedding video is because Sandra Bullock kissed him.'
