Rugby Union: Connacht get burnt

0 Comments | Sunday Mirror, Apr 17, 2005

CONNACHT were denied the chance of a Heineken Cup play-off by the fired-up Dragons - which now goes to Cardiff Blues.

A late surge by the Irish side when Bernard Jackman and Michael Swift both scored tries in injury time was just not enough.

Connacht had gone behind after an embarrassing and record- breaking 45 seconds when centre Mark McHugh dropped the ball from the kick-off and Dragons skipper Jason Forster capitalised.

Number eight John O'Sullivan replied with a try but winger Ben Breeze touched down for the Dragons before Wales full-back Kevin Morgan's double sealed Connacht's fate.
