CAUGHT LIVE: Lenny Kravitz

FROM the tight security outside to the excited buzz in the air, it was obvious that this concert was going to be something special.

Lenny Kravitz has played in front of 500,000 in Brazil as part of his world tour... but he's also included some small theatre dates and fans at the Apollo could hardly believe they were going to get so close to the man himself.

On the night Lenny was the first to admit the audience were the real stars of the show.

Only hours after the attempted bombing at Shepherd's Bush round the corner, nearby road and Tube closures meant it was a struggle just to get there. so although a touch jittery, everyone was determined to have a good time.

All in black with a long red scarf, sunglasses and a glitzy diamond belt, Lenny seemed awed by his fans, declaring: "Let me thank you for coming out tonight. Now, show them what London is all about!"

He didn't have to ask twice. On their feet and in fine voice, the crowd bellowed along to anthems like It Ain't Over Til It's Over and Let Love Rule, cheering so loud throughout Fly Away they even drowned out Lenny's guitar introduction.

He only had to remove his sunglasses or throw a towel into the audience to create near mayhem, as he danced on energetically to his impressive, if wackily- dressed backing band.

Captivating to watch, a beaming Lenny was determined to give his fans the night out they deserved and he didn't disappoint, leading his fans in a loud, defiant night of celebration.
