YourMoney:1 Treasure Hunter:2 : The pounds 3bn bank heist

ROBERT Kimber, 29, switched from an HSBC account to Alliance & Leicester's Premier Direct account because it doesn't charge interest for 12 months on agreed overdrafts up to pounds 2,500.

Business analyst Robert, of Leeds, said: "I have been stung in the past with hefty charges - I paid nearly pounds 70 one time when a payment of pounds 30 came out of my account and made me overdrawn, so now I'm more careful.

"The fact that I earn a good rate of interest of 4.89 per cent when I am in credit was also a factor. And it was easy to move as I did everything online"
