Football: WILL ROO END UP LIKE THIS?

RAZOR-sharp Manchester United fans reckon Wayne Rooney is a whisker away from ending his goal drought.

Rooney scored twice on the opening day of the season, but hasn't found the net in five games since he returned from suspension. The Old Trafford ace admits he's been below his best but United fans aren't panicking after a statistician, who really should get out more, highlighted the fact that Rooney scores most of his goals when he's unshaven.

Rooney has sported a beard during United's last few games and rumour has it he's told team-mates he won't shave until he's scored. Presumably girlfriend Coleen must be hoping he puts Newcastle to the, er, Wilkinson Sword today and doesn't end up looking like a member of ZZ Top...
