A ref sends off linesman for arguing
0 Comments | Sunday Mirror, Dec 3, 2006 | by JAMES HARPER
A REFEREE sent off one of his linesman - after he complained about being ignored.
The trouble began after Jim Fletcher - who had been playing for Bunford FC against the Royal Mail in Yeovil, Somerset - was substituted and offered to help out by running the line.
First Jim claims he was overruled by the referee after flagging for offside. Then when he signalled for a handball he was ignored again.
He challenged the referee and was shown the yellow card. When he questioned the card, the referee pulled out the red and sent him off.
The match was finished with a replacement linesman and 18-year- old Jim's side won 8-3.

Last night Jim's manager Ben Palmer, said: "Everyone was in shock - after all it's not something you see every day."
Jim, who is facing a pounds 30 fine and a 35-day ban, added: "I just want to chat to the ref and sort things out."
