Cops use patrol car as a taxi
Sunday Mirror, Feb 11, 2007
TWO police officers have been disciplined after a patrol car was used as a taxi to pick up colleagues on a night out.
Cops tried to call a taxi after a leaving party for two road traffic sergeants at the Canberra Club in Samlesbury, Lancs, but then called a workmate when none were available.
An uniformed policeman driving an unmarked police vehicle then arrived and picked them up.
The two unnamed cops who have been disciplined, under the police code of conduct, are the officer who called for a car and the officer who authorised sending it out.
Chief Supt David Mallaby of Lancashire's Eastern Division said: "A full investigation has taken place and I am very disappointed about the conduct of the officers. Both of them are very apologetic."
