FORMER SIMI president Brian Murphy has gone into the bike business. He and his son Jeff, both formerly of Belgard Motors, have gone into partnership together and step up a new Harley Davidson dealership on the Naas Road, just yards from the Red Cow. Trading as Harley-Davidson Dublin it is only the second dealership authorised to sell the iconic brand of motorcycles in Ireland, the other being Harley-Davidson Waterford.

With a background in car dealing, Belgard Motors sells Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Audi and Mazda brands, the father-son team aim to bring four-wheel levels of customer service to motorcycling. According to Jeff Murphy 'Rider training will be a major part of our product offer.

Knowing that there are many potential Harley riders that need a helping hand, and to satisfy this demand, we are setting up a Harley- Davidson Rider's Edge Training Programme so that new or lapsed bikers can be trained to ride confidently and safely. Learner-legal Harley-Davidson models will also form part of our range."

The dealership also deals in the sporty Harley-Davidson subsidiary, Buell Motorcycles.
