pounds MORE people insure their possessions than their life, according to insurers Legal & General. In a poll, 66 per cent of people said that they have home contents insurance, compared to just 41 per cent with life insurance. Around one in ten said they were happy to gamble that they won't ever become ill or die prematurely.
pounds SCOTS are the most generous tippers, while people living in the Midlands are the least likely to reward good service, according to research by private bank Cater Allen. The average tip left by Britons is just 8.5 per cent of the final bill, with 35-to 44-year-olds the least likely to leave anything. Retired people are most generous, with 93 per cent regularly tipping.
