I'M GREENER THAN YOU, SAYS TRUMP

AN eco-friendly councillor hit back yesterday after Donald Trump claimed he took better care of the environment than green activists.

Councillor Martin Ford has become a hate figure for the tycoon since his vote rejected Trump's plans for a pounds 1billion golf resort in Aberdeenshire.

The billionaire claimed he was more "green" than the councillor, who cycles everywhere and refuses to fly.

But Mr Ford hit back at the tycoon: "You should get a second opinion on that from environmental groups. I think the behaviour of the Trump organisation since we took our vote speaks for itself."

Trump wants his proposed project for the Menie Estate in Balmedie to become "the best golf course in the world".

But Mr Ford, as head of Aberdeenshire Council's Infrastructure Committee, had the casting vote on whether to give the scheme the green light last week.

He knocked it back, sparking a huge public outcry, a review by the Scottish Government - and Mr Trump's anger.
