CADORABLE

FOR me the undisputed star of last week's Detroit Motor Show has to be Cadillac's agonisingly pretty CTS Coupe. And don't think of it as just another here today, gone tomorrow turntable tart.
I'd say it is quite possibly the best-looking coupe in the world and a very significant car, not only for Cadillac but also for the whole coupe genre. Concept it may be, but anybody who's looked at it agrees that GM would have to be absolutely insane, blind or both not to put it into full-blown big-number production.
Interestingly, Cadillac make much of the fact the CTS Coupe was hand-crafted in a studio, not designed on a computer screen, calling it "emotion on four wheels".

And, boy, does it show. There's nothing that couldn't make it on to the finished production item, including the central-mount exhaust, vestigial rear fins, magnesium alloys, hidden door handles... even the sculpted Bluetooth roof antenna.
And don't forget that this swoopy coupe will get the engines that go into the CTS saloon, from the lithe 3.6-litre V6 to the thunderous 550-horse 6.2 V8 out of the CTS-V.There's even a super- clean 2.9 turbodiesel waiting in the wings.
So to Cadillac and General Motors I say this... sign this car off immediately and don't change a thing. In the CTS you have a world- class coupe that will help conquer Europe, establishing the Cadillac brand as truly separate and distinctive.
What's more, we know the CTS will be a right-handdrive, so there's absolutely no reason why we couldn't have this transport of delight here in the UK. Trust me - you'd have a monster hit on your hands.
