SALES OF pounds 1.89 WRINKLE CREAM ROCKET BY 800%
Sunday Mirror, Feb 10, 2008 by OCTAVIA WALKER
AN anti-wrinkle cream costing just pounds 1.89 is the new must- have product... after beating expensive rivals in OUR beauty survey.
More than 2,000 women took part in a "blind" test for the Sunday Mirror's Celebs on Sunday mag. The shock result was that budget store Aldi's cream, Siana Skin Kind Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream, beat dearer brands like Ponds and Olay. Now sales have soared by 800 per cent and in one day alone 35,000 were sold. Many branches have sold out and others have set a limit of one per customer. Aldi buying chief Tony Baines, said: "We are absolutely delighted - it's been a big wow for us."
Celebs beauty editor Lynne Hyland said: "It proves that you don't always get what you pay for."
