CRISTIANO RONALDO last night revealed he is running scared of hard-man defenders following the horror injury to Arsenal striker Eduardo.

The Manchester United striker - and boss Sir Alex Ferguson - slammed referee Martin Atkinson's control of their shock FA Cup sixth round exit.

Ronaldo, denied a blatant penalty following a collision with Sylvain Distin, said: "The ref today was unbelievable.

"I am scared to show my skills after what happened to the Arsenal player. It seems some refs only protect defenders. I'm starting to think that I must change the way I play."

On the decision to deny United a penalty Ferguson (above, right) said: "It's absolutely ridiculous. Managers get sacked because of things like that and he's going to referee a game next week."
