SHANE REIGNS

Sunday Mirror,  Mar 16, 2008  by PAUL JONES

SHANE WILLIAMS created rugby history as irresistible Wales claimed a deserved Grand Slam at the Millennium Stadium.

The flying winger's kick-and-chase try was his sixth of the tournament and his 41st overall, taking him clear of the record he had shared with Gareth Thomas.

The home crowed rose to salute their all-conquering heroes with Williams' achievement earning special acclaim. And he admitted: "I found it difficult getting involved in the game - it was so tight - and the try was one in a million."

Wales' fortunes have been transformed since a disappointing World Cup campaign late last year, and many have traced the improvement to the input of new coaching team Warren Gatland and Shaun Edwards.

Williams agreed. He said: "It just goes to show how hard we have worked since the World Cup."
