HELP! You ask me
Sunday Mirror, Apr 27, 2008 by QUENTIN WILLSON
Q I HAVE seen a restored 1982 Alfasud 1.5Ti with three previous owners and 58,000 miles for pounds 3,250. Is this is reasonable? What do you think of the Alfasud? Please help a 47-year-old through his mid-life crisis. - Robert, Chesterfield
A SOUNDS like a lot of money. It depends how good the restoration is, but new panels for the Alfasud are rare and expensive, so this one is likely to have its fair share of filler. Suds were terminal rusters, because the steel had a 75% recycled content. But if you're still keen, get it inspected and don't pay more than a couple of grand. If it was me, I'd buy a low-mileage VW GTi Mk I instead.
