RUDDOCK NEATH BOOST

Sunday Mirror,  Apr 27, 2008

FORMER Wales coach Mike Ruddock reckons Neath could mix it with Europe's big boys after proving the best in the Welsh Premier Division.

With their fourth title on the trot clinched last week, Neath can take a place in the final of the Konica Minolta Cup Final if they beat Glamorgan Wanderers at Aberavon today.

Neath coach Rowland Phillips has already called for the Premier title winners to be given a place in the second-tier European tournament, the Challenge Cup, and Ruddock says: "It's a good idea as it gives the winners somewhere to go."

Victory for Neath would bring them some cheer after a harrowing week spent worrying about scrum-half Gareth Jones, who remains in hospital with a serious neck injury suffered in Neath's match against Cardiff.
