Your Money: TREASURE HUNTER

Sunday Mirror,  May 11, 2008  by JAMES BREESE

Q I HAVE a Raiders Of The Lost Ark poster (right) from the early 1980s. I haven't seen it on any websites and was wondering if it is worth anything. It is in excellent condition and measures 30inx40in.

- Garry Johnson, by email

A THIS looks like it might be an original cinema lobby poster. The excitement is back with the imminent release of the next Indy film, so this is a timely inquiry. I imagine it might be worth pounds 300-pounds 400. Take it to an auction house for valuation.

Q A FEW years ago, I was given an Elvis security identification card with his photo and signature plus details of his height etc. Where will I be able to sell it? -

Jackie Sykes, by email

A IF genuine, this is a superb and desirable item. The trick is proving it is genuine. An expert at one of the top auction houses will be able to verify the signature, which is the main issue. If they can establish that, and that it was for a wellknown concert or film, you are looking at several thousand pounds. It would feature in a good rock and pop auction and attract buyers from the United States. You could be talking great money.

Q I HAVE a signed photograph of Frank Sinatra. Can you give me some idea of its value? - G. Grant, by email

A SINATRA is one of the most sought-after autographs, one of the top 100. A good item would be a nice, clean signature in pen on a nicely-posed portrait photograph, better still from his classic period and in black and white. London autograph dealers Frasers would value a signed photograph at pounds 1,750.
