DAVID NOBLE smashed a 30-yard piledriver to seize the playoff initiative for Bristol City.
But the battle for a pounds 40million Premier League promotion windfall prompted an angry touchline exchange between Palace skipper Shaun Derry and City boss Gary Johnson.
Derry gave Johnson a soaking from a drinks bottle. Johnson said: "He thought I looked a bit hot and he was trying to cool me down. I just said to him, 'See you on Tuesday' and we shook hands."
Palace boss Neil Warnock said: "I thought their bench over- celebrated at the end - we didn't like their celebrations."
