A VETERAN sailor has designed a new type of rudder for ships.
Thirty years ago Martin Bengtsson's boat lost a rudder in a storm, forcing him to improvise a makeshift one from plywood and thin lines. To his surprise this flexible rudder worked better than the one the ship had lost.
He is now working with Tim Walsh to market the Flexi Rudder.
