Brighten up rooms with splash of colour
Sunday Mirror, Jun 22, 2008 by Zena Alli
QI WOULD love to use some colour in my living room to brighten it up for the summer, but I am scared of overdoing it and it looking a complete disaster.
Have you any tips on how to go about this, and also what I could use to accessorise the room to fit in with the colour scheme please? - Phillipa Allen, St Ives, Cornwall
AZENA SAYS: Phillipa, there is no need to be scared of colour...simply use it sparingly and then accessorise to match.
First of all choose a bright colour you like but in the middle tone range. Next select a wall which could become a feature in itself, for example a fireplace wall or an alcove.
Use the colour on this wall only and then buy accessories like lamps, vases, rugs and pictures. This room painted in Golden Sands paint pounds 10.99/2.5ltr, from Focus (www.focusdiy.co.uk, 0800 436 436) is the perfect example of how your room could look.
Good luck!
