WRIGHT KILLER DIES OF CANCER
Sunday Mirror, Jun 29, 2008 by VICTORIA McMAHON
AN INLA gunman who shot dead LVF terror boss Billy Wright in the Maze died yesterday after losing his battle against cancer.
Christopher "Crip" McWilliams, along with INLA men John Kennaway, and John "Sonny" Glennon scaled a wall at the high security prison and ambushed the LVF chief known as King Rat, as he sat in a prison van, 11 years ago.
The INLA trigger man, who was in his 40s and came from West Belfast, died in Daisyhill Hospital in Newry yesterday morning. As cancer ravaged McWilliams' body pals said he still boasted about the 1997 prison slaying - proud he was known as the man who "took out" Wright.
In 1991, while a member of the Irish People's Liberation Organisation (IPLO), McWilliams was jailed for life for killing Colm Mahon, a Catholic bar manager. It was reported McWilliams was furious when Mr Mahon asked him and his pals to leave.
