WILL Wright from Cheshire is desperate to save money. He needs a fuelsipping motor for work, as he covers around 15,000 miles a year. He's narrowed his search to a VW Polo BlueMotion or Mini Diesel. Which is best ?

QUENTIN SAYS: There's little between the two in terms of parsimony, as they can both better 70mpg, are well built and will hold their value more than most. It may be a grand or so dearer, but I'd go for the Mini, simply because the oil-burning Cooper's more interesting to look at and more engaging to drive. Sadly, you're unlikely to get a discount on either.
