Your Money: Move means Christmas bonus

SUSAN Hart is switching accounts from HSBC to Alliance & Leicester to take advantage of their pounds 100 offer - and because they will take care of the move. Susan, 29, an assistant manager from Swadlincote, Derbyshire, said: "I've been with HSBC for eight or nine years and have been thinking of changing. When I saw the offer of pounds 100 after 15 weeks, that was the incentive to do it.

"I'll get the money in time for Christmas, which is a bonus. I also like the fact A&L have a Premier switching service as it means they do all the legwork for you and switch all the direct debits and standing orders over."

Even though the account only pays 1 per cent interest if you are in credit, Susan feels the free annual travel insurance it comes with will be more useful. She said: "I travel quite a lot, so the insurance will be very handy."
