BRADFORD 2 NOTTS COUNTY 1
0 Comments | Sunday Mirror, Aug 10, 2008
PETER THORNE scored twice for Bradford as they treated the Valley Parade faithful to an opening-day victory.
The Bantams striker struck first with his head and then with an overhead kick as the home side dominated the game from start to finish.
After a stop-start opening period, it was Bradford who created the first real chance, but Kyle Nix's shot was comfortably dealt with by Notts County goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 21st minute following good work from Paul Arnison.
Thorne rose in the County box to head the defender's cross beyond Pilkington.
The Bradford forward notched his second of the game in the 61st minute with an acrobatic effort.
