Diabetes shocker

Sunday Mirror, Oct 12, 2008

ONE in 20 of the people who attended this year's Ploughing Championships may have diabetes, on the-spot blood testing has revealed.

More than 100 of the 2,000 people tested for free by the HSE in Cuffesgrange, Co Kilkenny, were found to have a raised blood glucose level, which is a strong indication of type II diabetes.

One man was found to have such a high level of blood glucose that he was immediately rushed to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny.
