SOUTH AMERICAN champions LDU have warned Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United to expect a fight should they meet the Ecuadorian side in next weekend's FIFA Club World Championship Final.

Liga Deportiva Universitaria Quito coach Edgardo Bauza insisted his side could prove tough to break down in Japan, even for the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"There's a togetherness and determination about us," said the Argentine, nicknamed Big Duck.

"Everyone has pulled together over the past year and performed wonderfully.

"Nobody expected us to win the Copa Libertadores but we did. I think we're dangerous opponents for any team."

With a budget of just six million dollars, LDU beat Brazilian giants Fluminense in the Libertadores final to become the first team from Ecuador to capture the title.

They face Mexico's Pachuca on Wednesday. Should they win their semi-final, a dream match with United beckons next Sunday.

United take on the winners of today's quarter-final between Gamba Osaka and Adelaide United on Thursday.
