THE Government announced plans to guarantee bank loans to medium- sized businesses, and Gordon Brown unveiled a pounds 500million package to get the long-term unemployed back to work. But it was overshadowed by more job losses with 875 going at logistics company Wincanton, 360 at Waterford Wedgwood, 700 at JCB and 1,060 at Land of Leather.
