Chinese Province Exports Over $1.5 Billion Worth of Furniture

South China's Guangdong Province exported 420 million pieces of furniture in the first half of this year, a rise of 16.9 percent over the same period last year, according to statistics from local customs.
The exports were valued at US$ 1.55 billion, up 20.5 percent year on year. The province is one of the country's leading furniture manufacturers and exporters, accounting for 47.9 percent of the country's total furniture exports in 2002. The United States, Hong Kong and the European Union were the major markets. - (EMEconomy.com)
