Chinese Province Exports Over $1.5 Billion Worth of Furniture

South China's Guangdong Province exported 420 million pieces of furniture in the first half of this year, a rise of 16.9 percent over the same period last year, according to statistics from local customs.

The exports were valued at US$ 1.55 billion, up 20.5 percent year on year. The province is one of the country's leading furniture manufacturers and exporters, accounting for 47.9 percent of the country's total furniture exports in 2002.
