Emerging Markets Economy, Oct 21, 2003
The Russian government has confirmed as void the paragraph of the decree 832 "On introducing special conditions for the acquisition of radio-electronic means and high frequency devices."
Dated 1996, that obliged the sellers of radio-electronic means, in particular cellular phones, to get this activity licensed by the State Communications Supervision Committee (Gossvyaznadzor). The decree to this effect was inked by Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov. According to Interfax, the radio-electronic means include radio transceivers, radio telephones, radio navigation and positioning systems, cable TV systems and other devices using electromagnetic oscillations with frequency under 9KHz.
