China Netcom purchases bandwidth from Flag Telecom

Flag Telecom, a global network services provider announced that China Netcom (CNC) has signed an STM-1 capacity agreement between Shanghai and San Francisco via Japan.
Terms of the multi-million dollar agreement were not disclosed.
Flag Telecom also announced that it has signed a reciprocal agreement for a Virtual Point-of-Presence (VPoP) in Shanghai with CNC. The cooperation will provide CNC's customers global reach via FLAG Telecom's growing network of PoPs worldwide and will offer FLAG Telecom's customers access to CNC's network across China.
The VPoP is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2001.
