China's Red Flag parnters with Edgematrix to market wireless and

World IT Report, Apr 9, 2003

EdgeMatrix, multichannel commerce and communications infrastructure company, and Red Flag Software, China's leading Linux software developer, announced the formation of a partnership to jointly market a communications solution for wireless and multichannel infrastructure.

The companies plan to market the joint solution to the government, military and enterprise sectors.

Edgematrix's solutions are based on a multichannel communications gateway server which enables mobile services to be accessed by existing access points such as mobile WAP handsets, Web browsers, and public kiosk stations.

Other channels would include WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), the World Wide Web, SMS (Short Message Service), STK (SIM Toolkit) and Instant Messaging protocols. The software is GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and 3G ready, and will support communications to emerging channels like interactive TV set-top boxes and voice- enabled automobile systems.

Red Flag Linux sets the standard for open system software for the Chinese language interface. It runs on the Intel platform, which is a leading open standard architecture. The main benefit of this joint solution is that Linux developers are able to jumpstart the development of their multichannel applications for the Chinese market, using a proven multichannel communications gateway.
