World IT Report, Apr 10, 2003
Thailand's leading mobile phone operator will combine two of the country's favorite pastimes - using mobile phones and singing karaoke - in a new service for customers with specially equipped handsets.
Advanced Info System will start selling a karaoke service with Nokia 3650 phones at a price of 16,400 baht (US$383) on Wednesday, an AIS executive was quoted as saying in The Nation newspaper.
The phones will come with two songs already installed, and users will be able to download additional songs from AIS at a cost of 15 baht (35 cents) per song, he added, according to the report.
AIS is Thailand's biggest cellular phone company and claims a market share of around 58 percent with more than 2 million subscribers. (Worlditreport.com)
