US Cold Storage partners with India's Cognizant

World IT Report, Apr 10, 2003

Nasdaq-listed provider of outsourced software services in India, Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp., said it has expanded its relationship with US Cold Storage for high end IT services including technology strategy, consulting and architecture, as well as for applications outsourcing.

US Cold Storage is partnering with Cognizant to build a state-of- the art transportation management solution. A team from Cognizant, including experts in logistics and operations research from Cognizant's R&D group, researched how to use technology to solve complex business problems related to optimizing US Cold Storage's logistics operations.

"Cognizant proposed a system architecture design incorporating the most advanced internet-based software running on an extremely reliable IBM hardware platform. This, combined with their ability to develop a system that will be completely customizable to fit USCS's unique logistics requirements, gave them a clear edge over the highest rated commercially available logistics software packages," said Larry Alderfer, Director, Transportation for US Cold Storage. "Our past experiences with Cognizant gave us the confidence of their ability to deliver on-budget and on-time."

Cognizant's work with US Cold storage has also expanded to include e-Business systems development and application outsourcing services for USCS's warehouse management and customer profitability systems.

"Cognizant is increasingly able to provide more services for each client, including high end services such as architecture and technology strategy consulting," said Kumar Mahadeva, Chairman and CEO of Cognizant. "This means that customers have a trusted one stop shop and Cognizant has access to larger IT budgets." -(World IT Report)
