Thai firm to develop online games for new-generation mobile phones
World IT Report, Jul 2, 2003
Thailand's Samart Info Media (SIM), the multi-channel content provider, has concluded a deal with Jimmy Software Co. to develop online games for new-generation mobile phones.
"Online games are now one of the most popular wireless content services, and are expected to be the key content to be used in the new handset models," Thavatchai Vilailuck, president of Samart Corp, SIM's parent firm told Bangkok Post daily.
Thavatchai said logo and ringtone downloads remained the most popular content, while the use of new services such as polyphonic ringtones and multimedia messaging was increasing. He added the company would introduce new supporting content for its users on a monthly basis, particularly for the popular online gaming.
The first game developed under the agreement, SparX, will be added to the i-Mobile package for the handsets sold by Samart E-Trading Co.
He said the group had sold about 500,000 handsets with the i- Mobile package during the first half of this year.
