Indonesian cellular telecommunications operator surpasses 2003 target

Telkomsel, a subsidiary of Indonesia's state telecommunication company, PT Telkom, has elicited subscription from 27,000 customers of cellular phones in Central Sulawesi. The subscription figure, registered until this month, exceeds this year`s target of 20,000 units.

Telkomsel is a leading operator of cellular telecommunications services in Indonesia.

By the end of June 2003, Telkomsel had more than 7.7 million customers, i.e. a market share of some 53%.

Telkomsel provides GSM cellular services in Indonesia, through its own nationwide Dual band 900/1800 MHz GSM network, and internationally, through 222 international roaming partner networks in 74 countries. The company provides its subscribers with the option of a pre-paid simPATI Nusantara ("simPATI") service, or a post-paid kartuHALO service, as well as a variety of value-added services and programs.
