Lucent Deploys ADSL Access Ports for Telefonica in Brazil

Communications company Telefonica has selected networking company Lucent Technologies to expand its existing broadband network in Brazil.
Under the terms of the agreement Lucent will implement 96,000 new ADSL access ports in the network so that Telefonica can deliver broadband services to a wider customer base. Telefonica can also utilise the ADSL access ports for ADSL 2 which has a larger downstream capacity, is up to three times faster and has wider reach compared to traditional ADSL, according to the company.
